Changes are coming to the Malware Scanning and Vulnerability Assessment functionality across our Symantec and GeoTrust products. Changes will also be made to the Symantec Seal-in-Search functionality.
Please read the details below such that you can change your buy flows and marketing for new customers, and adjust the expectations of existing customers.
Structural and sourcing changes will result in an End of Sale (“EOS”) of the GeoTrust Anti-Malware Scanning services (both the Malware Scan and the Basic Malware Scan) in their entirety on 31 May 2018. The EOS will be followed by an End of Life (“EOL”) at a subsequent date.
On 31 May 2018, we will enhance the Malware Scanning components of our Symantec-branded SSL/TLS certificates (specifically including Secure Site, Secure Site Wildcard, Secure Site Pro, Secure Site EV and Secure Site Pro EV) and the Symantec SafeSite product. The enhancements will improve performance and your customers’ ability to resolve discovered issues.
These changes will apply to both active and new certificates and services. However, please understand that these changes will not impact the encryption and identity functions of our SSL/TLS certificates.

On 15 July 2018, we will discontinue the Seal-in-Search service via its EOL.
The service was typically delivered via a Norton browser extension, made available to consumers (usually part of a Norton software installation). With the plug-in activated, the Norton Seal would appear next to Google, Yahoo! and Bing search results whose sites were protected with Symantec-branded SSL/TLS certificates.
While TV has licensed usage of the Norton Seal itself from Symantec, Norton software remains a property of Symantec, and updates to the Norton browser extension expected on 15 June 2018 will not support Seal-in-Search.
The Seal-in-Search EOL will not impact the encryption and identity functions of our SSL/TLS certificates. The EOL will not impact the Norton Seal itself. You can continue to successfully display the without any additional action.
